Registrar
My name is Sandy and I am new to the board this year as registrar. I work part-time as an SEA in a private school in Abbotsford. I spend the rest of my time trying to keep my three kids and house somewhat organized.  This is my daughter Dacey’s fourth year of dance and I wanted to become more involved in an organization that she has truly enjoyed being a part of. I’m looking forward to working alongside the other FVIDA members to ensure another fantastic, eventful year for everyone!

This is my daughter's second year of dance, and she loves it!  I joined the board because I wanted to learn more about the FVIDA, and to be involved in my daughter's activities. I love working with people and connecting in new environments.  I am very busy working from home full-time, and taking care of my three young kids.  I am excited to be a part of the board this year, and for the plans ahead.
I am the new President of the FVIDA Board this year, but I am not new to the world of “Not for Profit”. I work full time for the Government of Canada as a Program Manager. My role is to work with Not for Profit organizations to help them with capacity building and business development. My husband Rick and I are raising our two teenagers, Eric is 17 and Olivia is 12. Olivia has been involve in dance since 2006, however she took a two year break from the School when we temporally relocated to Prince Rupert. I wanted to volunteer my time in my community and decided to become involved in FVIDA. I’m very excited to be part of the team and looking forward to a fun, productive year.
My daughters joined Sionnaine Irish Dance Academy last year after two years with another school, and I was very impressed with the role of the FVIDA and their efforts to support the school's dancers. Taking part in the Ceilidhs, parades, and many other events offered by both the FVIDA and SIDA last year, and the friendships the girls have formed, have made us feel that we're now part of a community. Volunteering on the Board this year is really my way of saying thank you for making Irish Dance such a wonderful experience for my girls.
My girls have been dancing at the Sionnaine Irish Dance Academy for years - since Elara was 2 1/2 yrs old! I still remember how tiny she was at the first class... Michelle's patience and enthusiasm has kept her excited to come every week from Chilliwack. Now that Keeva has earned her traditional dress too, I wanted to help out a bit more to make sure the dresses stay as safe and clean as possible. Those dresses are a key part of the dance out performances, competitions, and year end shows. I hoping to be able help to make some new dresses, fix some damaged dresses, and come up with creative ways to prevent further damage. It's nice to feel like I can make a difference!
I joined the board to get more involved with my daughters dancing. I wanted to create a position that would help with fundraising as that is why we have this association. I hope to be able to help raise more funds this year and if this position proves beneficial then I hope we can continue to have volunteers in years to come.
